The NewCastle Dogie girls’ basketball team and its coach, Steve Walker, have been rec- ognized by the Wyoming High School Activities Association for “exemplary conduct and good sportsmanship.” The team and Walker were cited for their good behavior during the Newcastle vs Douglas game on Dec. 9. The seventh annual Freeze Your Fanny Road Race will again be held in Sundance Jan. 28. Registration will be held at the Sundance Elementary School. The Custer Wildcats gave the Newcastle Dogie boys fits Dec. 21. The Wildcats seemed especially proficient at making three-point goals. Newcastle FFA members attended the “Made . for Excellence” leadership confer- ence in Douglas Dec. 15-16. Members attending the con- ference were Lindsey Merrill, Codi Seeley, John Hansen, and Brian Yeager. Dec. 18 — Four kids were observed “bashing mail- boxes” and were followed to the high school — a total eleven mailboxes were damaged. 50 Years .Ago Dec. 24, 1970 A campaign has been started in Weston County for the purpose of purchasing heart care equipment for the Weston County Memorial Hospital. A group of interested persons started the drive in hopes of raising some $17,000 for the equipment. As of Monday $5,000 has been pledged or contributed. David L. Wall, son of Mr. and Mrs. DaRoy F. Wall of 100 Years Ago Dec. 23, 1920 . Two weeks ago, a saddle which was stolen last week, for a short time, while Raymond was in town. Later, starting home he discovered that the saddle had disappeared with no trace of the thief. Every effort to run down the robber was futile and hope had been abandoned of recovering the lost saddle. Saturday the saddle was returned. By whom is still the question, as it reappeared as mysteriously as it disappeared and the boys are beginning to wonder if it_has been in the car all the time. This is not, however, reasonable as it could scarcely have fitted in the tool box, that being the only place not searched when the car was recovered after its theft and recovery in Casper.
