Last week fifth-graders had the privilege of going to Mallo Camp for
a few days, where they participated in events that taught them about
life outside of the city. They had the opportunity to learn skills that
some of them may never have a chance to use again. From archery
to trapping, and hiking to fishing, the kids got to get away from
it‘all‘,“
have fun, learn valuable life lessons, and even cut up for a while.
Clockwise from top: During the
last night Nicki Bloom leads
the children in some fun dance
routines leading up to the annu-
al Duck Walk Contest; Adam
Ertman teaches the kids about
trapping safety and laws in
Wyoming. Along with showing
the different types of snares,
traps, and anchors, he also
showed them pelts from differ-
ent wildlife indigenous to the
area, allowing them to carefully
hold and inspect them; Navaeh
Herring enjoys a s’more; the
children learn the proper meth-
ods of shooting with bows and
arrows. Safety was in the fore-
front of the training; hand sani-
tation was a mandatory step
before entering the lodge for
meals. .
