i Like All Cities
I like small cities'. This is noth-
ing against large cities. Both have
their usefulness. Ill fact, large
cities usually have some great
national advantage, such as near-
hess to waterpower, like P, uffalo
or Minneapolis; or location at the
junction of two rivers, like St.
Louis, or at the outlet of a river,
like New Orleans; or having a

It seems to me that England, i
France and Russia are lulling us l

What About Uranium?
Now speculators are crazy a-
bout uranium as all agent which
will be switched to peace uses
and thus protect the United Stab
('s from the It-Bomb. Without
doubt, uranium has many useful~
i)ossibilities: but these discussions
will soon be forgotten as the
American people have very short
memories, lh)wever the world
supply of uranium is very large
and is well scattered throughout
the leading nations and their pos-
sessions.
Certainly, lnost nations will be
making II-Bombs which can be
used for "blackmailing" purposes
and for attempting Io get what
they wanl without World War 111.
All l lie above will result in fur-
ther i,fflation and continued high
taxes. Someday 1 of tllese "black
mailing' threats may be "called"
anti some large cities will be
bombed. Then several million in-
nocent citizens in these cities
could })e killed.
Small Cities To Grow Rapidly
All Ill(' above could result in a
COl~tinued movement of families
and industries out of the large
cities into the smaller communi-
ties. 'l'hcse small cities when

big cities are getting more vul-
nerable to war dangers, labor
troubles, and high costs. Corpor-
ations are finding it easier to
raise money fro' capital expendi-
tures in the small cities, rather
than tile large cities. In the end
bankers and investors determine
locations.
Real Estate Values
I forecast that the prices of the
stocks of compames with all their
assets in big, vulnerable cities
lnay decline: while those with
their assets in small, safe ~ities
may not. My belief i.~ that aown-
town real estate value in some of
the large cities may be at their
peak, but that in the, smaller cit-
ies such real estate is still a pur-
chase. In addition to the factors
above, let me remind readers of
the curse of the automobile and
tile downtown parking problem in
large cities. Good roads, however,
are helping the small cities, which
should profit by I'res, ident Eisen-
hower's proposal for expending
$101 billion for good roads.
