STATE TO RECEIVE
$500,000 CHECK
FOR DROUGHT HELP
The state's agriculture com-
missioner announced Tuesday he
has been told another check for
a share of the $500,000 allocated
to Wyoming for drought relief
has been mailed to Guy. Milward
Simps~)n.
Commissioner William L. Chap-
man said the money will be used
to reimburse ranchers for claims
submitted on an average of "a-
bout 50 a day" for hay purchased
under the drought emergency
program.
The government already has
made available $225,000 of the
state's total $500,000 allocation.
Chapman said the $225,000 was
depleted as of Monday.
Chapman said he received word
the check had been mailed from
K. L, Scott, director of the U. S.
Agriculture Department's credil
service.
The commissioner added he did
not know for what amount the
check would be. Former Gov. C.
J. Rogers had wired for the ad-
ditional alocation but did not
specify any amount.
Chapman said Wyoming's past
checks for partial shares of the

FISH WARDEN TELLS
OF 1954 PROGRAM
The fish division of the Wyom-
ing Game and Fish Commission
spent $93,630 on improving facil-
ities and special projects, during
1954, according to Warden A. F.
C. Greene.
Greene, in his annual report to
the commission, also revealed it
is not "deemed necessary" that
the number of hatcheries be in-
creased in the state.
tte said the number of existing
hatcheries can furnish sufficient
fish to satisfy pres~ent require-
ments if they are properly mana-
ged.
Greene said construction work
was done during 1954 at the Au-
burn, Cody, Cono Bluff, Daniel,
Dubois, Story and Tensleep hatch-
eries and at the Boulder, Gen-
rock and Wigwam rearing sta-
tions.

BUFFALO MAN ASKS
MORE U. S. FUNDS
FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The Wyoming Legislature
organizations interested in
lic schools have been
Wiliam F. Smith, Buffalo,
president of the Wyoming
Trustees Assn to press
larger portion of federal
funds for Wyoming schools.
Smith urged a statewide
to increase the federal
to the state collected on
and oil royalties. He said the
now get only 37 per
the money collected by the 1
ernment.
Smith explained that
schools are not trying to cut
allotments distributed to
ttighway Department or the
versity but only trying to
more return by the federal
ernment for use by schools.
