STATE TO RECEIVE $500,000 CHECK FOR DROUGHT HELP The state's agriculture com- missioner announced Tuesday he has been told another check for a share of the $500,000 allocated to Wyoming for drought relief has been mailed to Guy. Chap- man said the money will be used to reimburse ranchers for claims submitted on an average of "a- bout 50 a day" for hay purchased under the drought emergency program. The government already has made available $225,000 of the state's total $500,000 allocation. Chapman said the $225,000 was depleted as of Monday. Chapman said he received word the check had been mailed from K. L, Scott, director of the U. S. Agriculture Department's credil service. The commissioner added he did not know for what amount the check would be. Former Gov. C. J. Rogers had wired for the ad- ditional alocation but did not specify any amount. FISH WARDEN TELLS OF 1954 PROGRAM The fish division of the Wyom- ing Game and Fish Commission spent $93,630 on improving facil- ities and special projects, during 1954, according to Warden A. F. C. Greene. Greene, in his annual report to the commission, also revealed it is not "deemed necessary" that the number of hatcheries be in- creased in the state. tte said the number of existing hatcheries can furnish sufficient fish to satisfy pres~ent require- ments if they are properly mana- ged.
